A NEWBORN was found abandoned in a Longgang park Wednesday morning and was brought to a hospital for medical care by police, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported Wednesday.

    A resident, surnamed Liu, said that he had seen the newborn, wrapped in a blue sheet, near a river in the Longyuan Park at around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

    Liu said that security guards in the park found the baby first. “Security guards said they hadn’t seen the baby yesterday, so he must have been left here this morning,” Liu said.

    According to Liu, the baby was motionless and didn’t even cry at all. After they called the police, the baby was brought to the hospital for medical treatment.

    Longgang police said that the baby might be premature, and an investigation of the case is ongoing. (Zhang Yang)
