Stormtrooper walks bride down the aisle
    2017-01-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

COURTNEY TITCHMARSH wanted to surprise her high school sweetheart on their wedding day, so she enlisted a Stormtrooper to walk her down the aisle.

Groom Gareth was delighted when the doors opened — and not just because of his beautiful bride coming towards him.

Titchmarsh said she knew her husband was a fan of “Star Wars” and wanted to add a personal and quirky touch to their ceremony as the couple are both “nerds.”

“I thought it would be a really fun surprise,” she said.

“I didn’t tell anyone except his best man, the photographer and my maid of honor.”

She added, “When the doors opened and when he saw the Stormtrooper, he just started cracking up.

“The whole way back down the aisle he was saying it was so cool. He just couldn’t believe it.

“He’s not obsessed with ‘Star Wars,’ but he is a big fan. He went to see the first movie with his dad when he was 3.”

The couple, from Hamilton, New Zealand, first met when they were 14 and dated throughout high school and university.

At 23, they were ready to tie the knot and did so in a beautiful ceremony held at Hamilton’s Willowbrook Park in November.

Titchmarsh revealed that she was inspired to give her wedding a “Star Wars” theme after coming across caketoppers designed to look like the franchise’s beloved androids.

“We have been together for eight years so I wanted a very sentimental wedding,” she said.

She added, “I first came across the caketoppers that were of BB8 and R2D2 and it gave me the idea for a ‘Star Wars’ theme.

“I wanted my two brothers to walk me down the aisle in their Stormtrooper costumes.”

But then she came across a nonprofit that offers to send cosplayers to events for free — in return for a donation to any charity.

A Stormtrooper from Outpost 42, the New Zealand Garrison of the worldwide 501st Legion, walked her down the aisle before posing for some amusing wedding photos with the newly married couple. Titchmarsh said she made her donation to the Child Cancer Foundation.(SD-Agencies)
