Thai airport fires employee for insulting Chinese tourists
    2017-January-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Suvarnabhumi Airport authority in Bangkok, Thailand, has announced it fired a worker for insulting two Chinese tourists as they were returning to Shenzhen, CCTV reported on its microblog yesterday.

A Chinese woman complained on a microblog Jan. 6 of being verbally abused at the airport before taking a flight back to Shenzhen on Jan. 5. The tourist said that she and her female companion wanted to ask for a departure card from a female airport employee who did not speak English or Chinese.

The tourist tried using gestures when she found it difficult to communicate in English or Chinese. However, the airport employee finally shouted “F**k you” to the two tourists after learning that they were Chinese, according to the post.

The tourists immediately turned away but the employee ran after them, while shouting “F**k you” repeatedly. The tourist said that they were very embarrassed and felt insulted as other tourists laughed at them.

The two tourists demanded that the employee apologize. The incident was reported by Thailand’s Chinese-language newspapers.

In a statement yesterday, the airport administration said that the two tourists were agitated after failing to communicate. However, the employee, who was employed by a company outsourced by the airport, was not polite when arguing with them, so the airport decided to fire her.  (Lin Min)
