BASI SETS GUINNESS WORLD RECORD AS OLDEST PANDA
    2017-01-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A zookeeper cleans Basi, who lives in the Panda World in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian Province, on Thursday. The 37-year-old panda is the oldest known giant panda in captivity, which roughly equals the human age of more than 120 years old. The average life of the wild giant panda is only 12 years. Basi will be crowned by the Guinness World Records on Wednesday. Basi may also be the most famous panda in China. In 1990, she was chosen as the prototype for Pan Pan, the mascot of the Beijing Asian Games. China News Service
