    A South Korean court Thursday has denied a request from prosecutors to arrest Lee Jae-yong, the heir apparent at the country’s largest conglomerate Samsung, who is ensnared in a massive bribery scandal.

    “It is hard to acknowledge the reason, necessity and appropriateness for the arrest at the current stage [of the investigation],” the Seoul Central District Court said, citing lack of evidence and key issues that are still under debate as the reasons for the rejection.
