Mangrove forest park opens
    2017-January-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

PHASE II of the Xiwan Mangrove Forest Park in Xixiang Subdistrict, Bao’an District, opened to the public Sunday, providing a place of leisure for Spring Festival holidaymakers.

The park’s Phase II covers an area of 360,000 square meters along the coast of Xixiang, four times the size of the park’s Phase I, which was opened to the public in August 2015.

The greenery area of Phase II of the park will take up 74 percent of its total space. Two newly built park roads, running 1.16 kilometers and 2.88 kilometers, are connected with the coastal areas to form a 5.18-kilometer circular greenway for sea sightseeing.

Phase II of the park has a capacity to accommodate sightseeing, relaxation and cycling for 30,000 visitors.

The mangrove forest park will be divided into five distinct areas with features based on themes such as sightseeing, cultural heritage, leisure, sports and parenting.

The park’s design also includes three underground parking garages that will offer 1,500 parking spaces.

Bao’an District has also planned to develop a large coastal town covering some 9 square kilometers near the park.
