    Images of Chaoshan

    More than 600 rarely seen images and an hour-long video of life in Chaozhou and Shantou in the early 20th century are on display. Researchers believe the video was shot in 1921-1939. The video shows signature Chaoshan-style architecture, clothes and accessories, cuisines and daily activities, extremely valuable for their research.

    Dates: Until April 30

    Sea World Light Festival

    Artistic light installations are lighting up around Minghua ship. The Fourth Sea World International Light Festival showcases lights designed by Dutch, Chinese, German and Canadian artists, such as Daniel Iregui, Xu Zhengyue, Tropisme, Antonin Fourneau and Stichting Barstow.

    Dates: Until Feb. 15

    Specimen exhibition

    A small but concise exhibition featuring specimens of the Chinese white dolphin and other marine species is being held at the Shenzhen Museum this winter to raise the public’s awareness of endangered species and the need to protect our environment.

    Dates: Until Feb. 18

    Open: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., closed Mondays

    Animation biennale

    The Third Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale is a cross-regional art event showcasing videos and talks. Animation works created by artists from China, the United States, Germany, Italy, Australia, Britain and Switzerland are on display.

    Dates: Until March 2, closed Jan. 27 & Mondays

    Venue: C2, North Area, OCT-LOFT, Nanshan District (南山区华侨城创意文化园北区C2)
