    Official prosecuted

    SHI DENG, former Party chief and director of Nanwan Subdistrict Office in Longgang District, was prosecuted for allegedly taking HK$2.54 million (US$327,446) and 300,000 yuan (US$43,768) in bribes.

    Shi, 54, took bribes between December 2002 and March 2016 when he was director of the development service center of Pinghu Logistics Base and head of the subdistrict.

    SOE assets

    THE total assets of SOEs (State-owned enterprises) under the administration of Shenzhen have reached 1.17 trillion yuan, a meeting of local SOEs said Monday.

    In 2017, local SOEs have a total budget of 143.2 billion yuan spread over 592 projects, an increase of 34.8 billion yuan over previous year. The projects include Terminal 4 and a third runway at the Shenzhen airport, Metro projects, expressways and ports.

    Airport ETC

    THE parking lots at the Shenzhen airport have adopted electronic toll collection (ETC) to improve efficiency of fee payments and relieve congestion. The automatic fee payment can be completed within five seconds.

    Telecom scams

    SHENZHEN’S anti-fraud center intercepted 446.7 million yuan by freezing 14,967 bank accounts of 12,498 victims in 2016, a meeting of Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau said.

    Police busted 4,125 telecommunications scam cases in 2016, a 131.1 percent increase year on year, ranking first in Guangdong Province. Fraud cases that the city’s 110 hotline had received and filed for investigation dropped by 24.6 percent and 20.2 percent, respectively, according to police.
