Audit unveils irregularities in government agency
    2017-January-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A GOVERNMENT agency has been found to have committed several errors in its annual expenditure of public funds and misuse of government vehicles in 2015, according to the result of an audit report released Monday by the city’s auditing bureau.

The economy, trade and information commission was found to have incorrectly audited its public expenditures including fees that cover staff members’ overseas business trips, conferences and trainings. The total amount of money that did not match its accounts exceeded 30,000 yuan (US$4,378), according to the audit report.

The auditing bureau disclosed that the total budgetary revenue for the commission for 2015 was 445.99 million yuan, but the commission actually had 548.7 million yuan in total revenue.

It was discovered that some of its subordinate units had nonstandard expenditures that amounted to 10,816 yuan. A sum of 8,436 yuan under the category of stationary and nonstandard overseas business trips was also discovered.

Thirteen government vehicles for public use of the commission had not been properly dealt with in time according to the country’s regulations. The amount for the expenditure of the cars exceeded 3.21 million yuan.

The commission had not used up the 3.5 million yuan that was supposed to be used to support enterprises, while some enterprises had received more funds than they should have in 2015.

Meanwhile, the commission also failed to deal with the idle capital of 915.75 million yuan left by a former administration of the free trade area that was included in the commission in October 2000.

The commission said in response that it had already started to fix the problems mentioned in the auditing report, and started regulating its own auditing and reimbursing procedures. (Zhang Qian)
