THE random parking of app-based bikes has become prominent in the city and police warned yesterday that violators could be listed in the credit system.
At a news conference yesterday, police called for app-based bike users to obey traffic rules about parking bikes, saying that otherwise the violators would be fined 20 yuan (US$2.93) and be disqualified from using the bikes.
There are around 300,000 app-based bikes on Shenzhen’s streets, including 120,000 operated by Mobike and 80,000 operated by ofo.
Police said that they were working on a plan to include app-based bikes into the vehicle administration platform.
Ofo recently announced that it would offer free rides on its bikes in dozens of cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen between tomorrow and Feb. 2, the Spring Festival holiday period. The move is to promote green commuting and a healthy Spring Festival holiday.
“Ofo isn’t simply a short-trip commuting tool, it is a healthy way of life and represents an ideal form of environment protection,” said Dai Wei, founder and CEO of ofo.
Besides free rides, ofo will also launch an activity for “exploring a different hometown” by offering uniquely designed riding routes for local riders.
