    Accidental fall

    A MAN who was cleaning a rain shelter at the entrance of the parking lot of a housing estate in Nanshan District died after accidentally falling from the top Monday.

    Police confirmed the death and the property management claimed that they would handle the incident according to the law after the result of the investigation is released.

    According to a witness, three people were cleaning the shelter when one of them fell to the ground.

    The work safety authority is investigating.

    Lost gold found

    SHENZHEN railway police found a box containing 100 pieces of gold ornaments at the Futian Railway Station on Saturday.

    Police officers checked the surveillance cameras and broadcast over the internal communication speakers to find the owner.

    The owner, surnamed Tian, later claimed the box, saying that he had forgotten to pick it up after passing the security check.

    New foundation

    SHENZHEN has set up an 8-billion yuan (US$1.16 billion) foundation to support entrepreneurship and innovation of professionals and startup companies.

    The funds will mainly invest and support strategic industries, future industries and modern service industries as well as projects of high-added value.

    Fruit import

    A TOTAL of 1.3 million pieces of fruit were imported through Shenzhen ports to mainland cities in 2016, an increase of 1 percent over previous year, statistics from Shenzhen Customs showed.

    Among the fruit, the import of cherries, grapes and tangerines increased greatly.
