    Aerial danger

THE Shenzhen airport authority would like to remind residents not to launch sky lanterns or drones near the airport as lanterns and drones can create hazards for flights taking off and landing. Three flights were affected Friday.

Police warned that violators will face up to 15 days in detention and fines of at least 20,000 yuan (US$2,910), and 100,000 yuan in serious situations.

Unauthorized flying objects are restricted from entering the area within 20 kilometers of either end of the airport runways and 10 kilometers of either side the runways, according to the airport. The restricted area covers Bao’an, Nanshan and part of Futian, especially Xin’an, Shajing, Xixiang and Fuyong subdistricts, which are close to the airport.

    Firework fires

THE city’s fire department received 145 fire alerts including 36 alerts caused by fireworks during the Spring Festival holidays.

A total of 16 people were rescued with no casualties or injuries. A total of 41 fire alerts were caused by improper use of electricity.

    Incoming travelers

AROUND 600,000 nonlocal vehicles entered Shenzhen and 830,000 locally registered vehicles left the city during the holidays, data from Shenzhen police showed.

The number of arriving vehicles increased by 40 percent compared to the same period last year, and the number of departing vehicles decreased by 13 percent.

    Fake banknotes

FAKE banknotes were found in three unlicensed taxis parked in a parking lot in a residential estate in Bao’an District during the Spring Festival holidays. The vehicles have been impounded and police are investigating.
