A TOTAL of 373 complaints were made by consumers during the Spring Festival holiday, from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2, an increase of 32.74 percent compared with the same period last year, while online gaming received the most complaints this year, according to a press release from Shenzhen Consumer Council.
According to the council, 145 complaints — 38.87 percent of the overall complaints — were against Internet services, including 99 complaints against online games. Some players said their accounts were banned or stolen, and their virtual items in the games lost.
Meanwhile, 24 complaints were made against catering, traveling and accommodation services during the holiday, an increase of 140 percent compared to last year’s Spring Festival holiday.
Some tourists said that they had been forced to buy things during package tours to Hong Kong, and others complained about being unable to cancel a hotel room that they had booked online or finding a hotel had no rooms available after they had made a reservation.
The report noted that some consumers also complained about being treated with bad manners or personal attacks at restaurants.
Additionally, there were 13 complaints about mobile phone Internet services and 11 complaints about public facilities and services, according to the report.
