THE minimum temperature will drop to around 10 degrees Celsius between Friday and Sunday due to a cold front that will start to affect the city Thursday, the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory said.
As the weather will be clear and sunny, with maximum temperatures remaining around 18-19 degrees Celsius in the daytime over the weekend, residents shouldn’t feel too chilly.
The observatory predicts that two other rounds of cold fronts will affect the city and bring temperatures down to 10 degrees Celsius in February.
Shenzhen residents experienced a warm Spring Festival holiday and winter so far. During the Spring Festival holiday, temperatures ranged between 16 and 22 degrees Celsius.
Statistics showed that the average temperature between December and January was 18.4 degrees Celsius, the highest in Shenzhen’s meteorological history. This winter is expected to be the warmest winter in the city’s meteorological history.
The warm weather this winter has been caused by the weak cold air since December and is related to global warming. In the 10 years between 2006 and 2015, Shenzhen has recorded four warm winters.
