Shopping centers
SHENZHEN will build around 20 shopping centers with more than 50,000 square meters of floor space this year, according to a report in the Shenzhen Economic Daily.
The centers will include a 360,000-square-meter Unicenter located at the intersection of Chuangye Road and Xinhu Road in Qianhai and developed by Uniland Real Estate Co. Ltd., and the Eslite Life shopping mall that is being developed by China Resources Property.
Bio valley projects
SHENZHEN kicked off 30 projects including apartments for professionals, transport infrastructure, parks and cultural facilities at a biological valley in Dapeng New Area on Saturday. The projects involve a total investment of 3.6 billion yuan (US$525 million).
UK academic
HE YEJUN, a professor at Shenzhen University, has been elected to be a research fellow at the Institution of Engineering and Technology in the U.K.
He is among 20 scholars on the Chinese mainland who have been elected to join the 246-member institution, which was founded in 1871.
He won the second prize of Shenzhen’s technology of advancement award in 2016.
Lucky lottery
A MAN surnamed Xia won 5.94 million yuan on a lottery ticket that he had thrown away and later retrieved from the waste basket.
Xia had thrown the ticket into the trash before he went back to his hometown for the Spring Festival holiday. He learned that no one had claimed the prize after he returned to Shenzhen, although it was announced 26 days before. Xia found the ticket, which was still in the waste basket, and claimed the prize Saturday, the second workday after the holiday.
Lake greenway
THE greenway around Lixin Lake in Fuyong Subdistrict, Bao’an District, opened to the public Sunday.
The 8.8-kilometer greenway, which has five entrances and is divided into five areas with different landscaping features, is a major project of Fuyong Subdistrict Office aimed at creating a better environment for those working and living in the area.
