“HOW I Met Your Mother” creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are back at CBS with their second pilot order of the season. The network has handed out a pilot pickup for “Distefano,” a comedy starring Chris Distefano that is written by Bays and Thomas, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The multicamera/hybrid comedy, which landed at CBS in August with a hefty pilot-production commitment, is inspired by the comedy of Distefano and centers on Izzy and Chris, two 20-somethings raising their newborn daughter and merging their meddling families — one Puerto Rican, one Italian. Bays and Thomas will pen the script and exec-produce via their Sony Pictures Television-based Bays-Thomas banner. In addition to starring, Distefano will also co-write the story and co-exec-produce alongside Brian Bockrath and “How I Met Your Mother” grad Pam Fryman, with the latter on board to direct. CBS Television Studios has also boarded the comedy as a co-producer, marking the fourth co-production between the two companies this pilot season. This is Bays and Thomas’ second pilot order of the season and the first that they’re writing. It joins CBS hybrid comedy “Real Life,” from writer Hilary Winston. (SD-Agencies) |
