    A DELEGATION of Turkey’s Patriotic Party visited Shenzhen Press Group on Friday afternoon, and both sides showed interest in developing cross-border media cooperation.

    Six delegates, including Dogu Perincek, chief of Turkey’s Patriotic Party, visited the press group’s honors room to learn about the group’s history and achievements, before they attended a meeting with the group’s leadership.

    Perincek said that China was Turkey’s largest trading partner, but that there were only a few Chinese companies investing in Turkey’s media industry. He hopes that the newspaper, TV channels and publishing company run by his Party will be able to cooperate with Shenzhen Press Group in various ways.

    According to Perincek, the newspaper run by his Party has a special column about China, as many Turkish people and entrepreneurs are interested in China’s development.

    Perincek said that his Party’s publishing company published a Turkish version of “Xi Jinping: The Governance of China,” which is a book about President Xi’s ideas and theories on governance, over a week ago. “The book is available in all bookshops in Turkey now,” he added.

    He hopes that his Party’s newspaper can establish a long-term partnership with Shenzhen Press Group so they can share news stories or newspaper pages with each other.

    Additionally, there are 25 nationwide TV channels in Turkey and the government has stopped offering new TV licenses to operators. Perincek said that his Party owns two of these TV channels and that they welcome Chinese companies to invest in or purchase their own channels.

    Xuan Zhuxi, editor-in-chief of Shenzhen Press Group, said that the press group would set up a task force led by Shenzhen Daily to detail the cooperation plan with the Patriotic Party. He suggested that both sides could start by exchanging news stories and gradually deepen their cooperation.

    Perincek said that media cooperation could enable people in both China and Turkey to better understand each other. “It will also point out the right path for Turkish entrepreneurs who are looking for business opportunities in China,” he said.
