    Bank lobbyists are stepping up efforts to influence the incoming U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin over the future of mortgage warehouses Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

    The two have been operating under conservatorship since 2008 when then Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson pulled the trigger on a massive US$187.5 billion bailout.

    With a new administration set to take over the Treasury, the fate of Fannie and Freddie could be decided in the next six months.
