SZ PLANS RAILWAY HUB
    2017-02-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE city will build a railway network that will have four backbone stations including Shenzhen North Railway Station, Shenzhen Railway Station, Airport High-speed Railway Station and Pingshan Station, as well as five auxiliary stations including Futian Station, Xili Station, Shenzhen East Railway Station, Pinghu Station and Guangmingcheng Station.

According to the Shenzhen Transportation 13th Five-Year Plan, which was passed by the city government at its executive meeting and released by the transport authority Sunday, the Pingshan Station will be expanded and Xili Station will be built to serve the future Coastal Passenger Special Line and the Shenzhen-Maoming High-speed Railway.

The city will add a railway station to connect the airport to the existing railway network and ensure the balance of east, west and central areas.

In the plan, the city proposes a rail network with north-south lines including Beijing-Guangzhou-Shenzhen Passenger Special Line, Ganzhou-Shenzhen Special Passenger Line, Beijing-Kowloon High-speed Railway and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen inter-city rail, as well as three east-west lines, including the Xiamen-Shenzhen railway, the Shenzhen-Maoming railway and Coastal Passenger Special Line.

The city will also start planning to extend the Shenzhen-Maoming railway eastward to Pingshan and build high-speed rails to Zhaoqing, Shanwei and the Yangtze River Delta area.

In aviation, the city will expedite the construction of T4 and the third runway, and begin preliminary research on the construction of a second airport in the east. By the end of 2020, international routes from the Shenzhen airport will reach 48 and air passenger turnover is expected to reach 48 million.

In underground rail construction, the city will work with Dongguan and Huizhou to build six cross-city Metro lines including Line 11 with Line 3 in Dongguan, spur line of Line 6 with Line 1 in Dongguan, Line 20 with Line 2 in Dongguan and the extension of Line 10 to Fenggang in Dongguan, Line 13 with Line 3 in Dongguan and the extension of Line 14 to Huizhou South Railway Station.

By 2020 the city will build 250 km of Metro lines, bringing the network’s total length to more than 500 kilometers.

It will also build 50 comprehensive bus terminals, 176 kilometers of fast roads and 192 kilometers of trunk roads by 2020.

Regarding the slow traffic system, the city will improve the bicycle network around 18 Metro stations and promote underground pedestrian systems in five areas, including Qianhai, Houhai, Huaqiangbei, Shenzhen High-tech Industrial Park and Hubei. It will build a bicycle system linking Meilin and Futian CBD, and pilot a bicycle system linking Shekou and Qianhai, Shenzhen Bay and Houhai, and in Shenzhen High-tech Industrial Park.

By 2020, the city will have built 1,000 kilometers of bicycle lanes.
