Seven-vehicle pileup
A WOMAN was trapped inside a driving school vehicle following a seven-vehicle pileup Sunday.
The pileup happened at 5:35 p.m. near the intersection of Nanhai and Liuxian boulevards and involved two cargo trucks, a driving school vehicle, a cement mixer, two cars and an SUV. The driving school vehicle was stuck between the two cargo trucks and a number of vehicles reported an oil leak.
Thanks to prompt action on the part of firefighters, the leaked oil was not ignited and the woman was also rescued and taken to the hospital.
Counterfeit batteries
A NEW energy company in Shenzhen was found to have declared counterfeit and shoddy storage batteries for export, the city’s inspection and quarantine bureau said. The case is the first of its kind uncovered by the city’s checkpoint authority.
The storage batteries, 1,856 in total, were intended to be exported to the Middle East. The company has been hit with an administrative fine of 120,000 yuan (US$17,460).
Job fair
NEARLY 4,000 jobseekers attended this year’s first job fair held in Bao’an District yesterday. Some 55 percent of the jobseekers signed letters of intent with the potential employers.
More than 616 enterprises attended the job fair, offering 4,558 vacancies, 70 percent of which were in the manufacturing industry.
Foldable canopies
FOLDABLE canopies that were illegally installed on sidewalks near a number of restaurants were removed by law enforcement authorities in a recent action carried out in Xixiang, Bao’an District.
Ten foldable canopies were temporarily seized in the action.
