    Men detained

    TWO rumormongers, who made up and circulated an online rumor saying that a man in Longgang District had died from an H7N9 infection after eating chicken, have been detained for five and three days, respectively.

    Longhua projects

    LONGHUA started construction work on 15 projects with a total investment of 14.2 billion yuan (US$2.06 billion).

    The projects include the renovation of Donghuan No. 2 Road in Longhua Subdistrict and of Guihua Road in Guanlan Subdistrict. The district will spend 430 million yuan on a drainage system to separate rain water from waste water in Longsheng area, Dalang Subdistrict and Jinglong area in Longhua Subdistrict.

    New hospital

    THE new venue of Shenzhen Sun Yat-sen Cardiovascular Hospital in Nanshan District will be put into operation this July. The new venue is located at the intersection of Langshan Road and Keyuan North Road in Songpingshan, Xili Subdistrict. Covering an area of 22,000 square meters, the new hospital will be able to handle 4,000 clinic visits a day and offer 500 beds for patients.

    The limited space of the hospital in Luohu couldn’t accommodate the expansion of the new venue, which was started in 2012.

    Parallel traders

    HUANGGANG Customs recently seized 31 parallel traders who were trading with buyers in the border area near Futian Checkpoint. Products worth 2 million yuan (US$291,200) were seized.

    On the night of Feb. 16, dozens of parallel traders crossed the checkpoint to Shenzhen. They pretended not to know each other. But after they left Futian Checkpoint, they gathered near a buyer’s van to start trading the products they had bought in Hong Kong, which were mainly cosmetic products, red wines and cigarettes. In three recent actions, police seized 400 iPhone 7s, 83 video game consoles and 4,898 cosmetic products.

    The cases are still under investigation.

    Bankruptcy rumor

    YTO Express, a courier service company, has refuted some media reports saying that the company was on the verge of bankruptcy and massive parcels were delayed.

    In a public notice Tuesday, the company said that the parcels were delayed because of a shortage of employees after the Spring Festival. They have since been delivered properly and business is normal, the company said.

    School campus

    CONSTRUCTION of the Nigang Campus of Shenzhen Middle School has been listed as a Category A project in the city’s investment plan.

    Work on the project is expected to be initiated in September. According to the plan, the Sungang campus, which will be built on the original site of Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, and has a floor space of 120,000 square meters. It will accommodate 75 classrooms and offer 3,750 school slots.

    The 600-million-yuan project is expected to be finished at the end of 2019.
