SHENZHEN’S market supervision authority and Longhua police are investigating a fraud case in which a man’s ID was falsely used to register more than 20 companies.
Zhong Yong, a man working in a construction material company in Shenzhen, lost his ID card in June 2012. He recently found that his personal information had been used to register 23 companies. Zhong was either the legal representative or major shareholder in the companies that were engaged in construction materials or transportation.
All of these companies were registered in Shenzhen and had abnormal business activities.
“I became an executive in 23 companies overnight without my acknowledgment,” Zhong was quoted as saying in a Chinese-language report Thursday.
According to Zhong, he renewed his ID in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province and changed the address on the ID card when he came to work in Shenzhen in 2013.
The materials provided by Zhong showed that three companies had been registered on the same day, May 26, 2015. Zhong suspected his ID had been falsely used because the business registration application can be completed online with the required documents, since applicants don’t need to show up at the registration office of the market supervision authority.
Despite the fact that Zhong had nothing to do with the companies, he was still fired by his company because his boss thought that he was a spy working for other companies.
