    Free medication

PSYCHIATRIC patients living in Futian are entitled to a monthly medical subsidy of 350 yuan (US$51) and can receive their medication at the district’s hospital for chronic diseases between Mondays and Fridays.

There are 4,000 Futian residents who suffer from psychiatric diseases, but only 400 of them are willing to receive the subsidy at present, the hospital said. The hospital also offers a free physical check every six months for these patients.

    Car fire

A DRIVER under the influence of alcohol was pulled out of his burning car. The car caught fire after crashing into a road fence, and the driver was sent to the hospital with two other passengers yesterday morning.

The accident happened at around midnight when the unidentified driver turned from Xiangmihu Road onto Hongli Road.

Surveillance cameras showed that the two passengers were laying on the ground while the driver was still in the car after the crash. Witnesses pulled the driver out and took the three to the hospital.

The case is still under investigation.
