A rescuer checks the inside of a damaged bus after a crash in the Kramer Junction area, 100 km northeast of Los Angeles, the United States, on Monday. One person was killed and at least 27 others were injured in the crash, which involved the bus and two other vehicles. Authorities said the charter bus crossed the center divider and hit two cars head-on. The driver in one of the cars was killed. The bus, which was labeled “U-best Holiday” and its Chinese brand, was owned by a Chinese couple, according to a local businessman familiar with the tourism industry. The businessman also suggested that the passengers very likely came from China. However, so far the California Highway Patrol has only confirmed the dead was not Asian. The Chinese consul in LA departed Monday evening to the hospitals to identify the wounded.Xinhua |
