AN international school in Shekou, Independent Preparatory Academy, and the Zhaoshang Subdistrict Office, said it would offer free Chinese language and culture classes for expats.
According to the school, the initiative aims at teaching foreigners basic Chinese-language skills, introducing them to the Chinese culture and even updating their knowledge about the latest changes in Chinese laws.
The school’s organizing committee said that they believe this concept is unique as most Chinese-language schools only target the linguistic aspect.
An experienced Chinese teacher will assess students and group them into levels so that each class uses the most appropriate curriculum. The classes are free of charge and are open to all foreigners, as long as they show motivation and commitment to join the classes regularly.
The first class was carried out Wednesday night at the Independent Preparatory Academy on Nanhai Boulevard in Nanshan.
The program is still accepting applications.
