Design week
THE First Shenzhen Design Week, a key project in the action plan of the city’s cultural innovation development 2020, will be inaugurated April 21.
The design week, titled “Design Creates Future,” will be an annual event and at this year’s opening ceremony, the organizer will initiate a program to collect entries for the Shenzhen Global Design Awards with US$1 million available in total prize money. The prizes will be awarded at next year’s event.
The organizer estimates that around 300 designers from home and abroad will attend this year’s event, bringing 2,000 design pieces.
Student e-bike driver
A 14-YEAR-OLD student identified as He, in Shajing, Bao’an District, was killed by a broken flower pot after he accidentally fell from an e-bike Tuesday evening.
He, riding the e-bike, hit a stone pole on the safety island at the intersection of Yongtong Road and Shengfang Road and fell off the bike. Unfortunately, his head hit a flower pot, which was displayed for sale by a peddler surnamed Huang. The broken pot cut the artery in He’s neck and he died due to loss of blood at Shajing hospital 30 minutes after medical treatment.
Police are investigating.
Ferries to Central
SHENZHEN Oceanus Group added eight ferry services between Shekou and Central in Hong Kong starting Wednesday.
A single trip takes about 55 minutes and the fare is 120 yuan (US$17.43).
The group is now operating seven routes from Shenzhen to Zhuhai, Macao and Hong Kong.
