THE opening of the first Italian Design Day (IDD) in the world was held in Kylin Villas in Shenzhen on Thursday.
Stefano Micelli, winner of the Compasso d’Oro Award in 2014, was appointed as the Italian Design Ambassador to Shenzhen. He shared with the public his insights and further explored the topic of craftsmanship as an essential part of design.
One of the highlights of IDD Shenzhen was the enabling of a far-reaching dialogue on “Design and New Craft,” which deepened the Sino-Italian strategic cooperation and exchanges in the design sector.
The exchange helped serve and benefit the design industry of the two countries, laid a cornerstone for an interactive platform among Italian and Chinese designers, and promoted the implementation of design in industrial production.
The Shenzhen event was part of a global initiative that involved 100 cities hosting design events on the same day.
