KIM CATTRALL has joined the cast of Swedish detective series “Modus” for its second season, taking on the role of the U.S. president who arrives in Stockholm for a state visit. The trip takes a turn for the worst, with “devastating consequences,” according to a description in the casting announcement Wednesday.

    “I am pleased to be joining the ‘Modus’ production in their second season and am looking forward to spending time in Sweden, a country I have always wanted to visit,” said Cattrall. “As a fan of the great Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, I look forward to my time here.”

    An original series for Nordic streaming service C More, the first season of “Modus” followed psychologist and profiler Inger Johanne Vik (Melinda Kinnaman) as she found herself, and her autistic daughter, drawn into an investigation surrounding a series of disturbing and brutal deaths. The case led her to team up with detective Ingvar Nymann (Henrik Norlen), and together they set about uncovering the clues to these shocking crimes.

    The second season is currently in production and will air this fall. The show airs in countries including the U.K., Canada, Australia, France and Japan. Danish production firm Miso Film, in which Bertelsmann-controlled RTL Group’s FremantleMedia owns a majority stake, is producing the show.

It’s really a dream come true,” said Sandra Harms, producer at Miso. “In a time when no one can keep their eyes off U.S. politics and its implications far beyond America’s borders, Modus season 2 moves into the international arena. Kim is not only a fantastic actress with great authority, but also highly engaged and informed in U.S. politics, which has already added a lot to the character and the story.”
