ON Oct. 26, 2016, Shenzhen Futian District People’s Court opened a case on recovering illicitly deposited money taken from the general public. The case involved 4,329 victims and an amount of some 300 million yuan, making the case the Futian record holder for largest number of victims and the largest amount of money involved in a case of this kind.

    Over the course of two months, Futian District People’s Court handled the recovery of the money, returning a total of 130 million yuan to over 3,800 victims.

    On May 29, 2015, the case started the clearing process and the audit unit and procedure were also established. However, due to the large number of victims involved, some 300 victims were unable to be contacted, which delayed of handling the case.

    The court decided to return to the applicants some 120 million yuan seized during the investigation.

    This case is one successful example of the work the Futian court has done over the past year.
