As the new semester began, the Futian District Education Bureau made a decision that an additional five new schools will be built and 12 existing ones expanded this year to meet the needs of citizens for quality education.

    The five new schools will comprise Fuyuan Primary School, Experimental School of Bonded Area, Antuoshan Primary School, Shenkang School and the North Campus of Liyuan Foreign Language Primary School. The construction of Fuyuan Primary School will be completed by the end of 2017, providing 1,350 school slots. The 12 schools that will be expanded include Hanlin Experimental School and Qiaoxiang Foreign Language School.

    According to the bureau, Futian will increase the supply of quality school slots by identifying potential slots and expanding new ones. Futian will establish schools in urban villages.

    In addition, the Futian government will further promote inclusive and quality pre-school education by building 20 more government-subsidized kindergartens to make the number of overnment-subsidized kindergartens account for over 80 percent of all the kindergartens in Futian District.

    To improve education quality and make education more fair, Futian District will build quality schools for urban villages. The district will also improve the infrastructure of the campuses of schools in urban villages to attract more competent teachers.

    The Education and Science Institute of Futian District will give priority to “The 12 Actions” so as to improve the overall quality of education in the district.

    “The 12 Actions” incorporates the next-round of course reforms and education research, promotion of famous teachers, improvement of in-class arts, branded holiday-celebrating events, construction of smart education, green evaluation, innovative party-building projects, annual appraisal of researchers and the leading concept of a civilized Futian.
