FUTIAN government is committed to the development of culture and sports, and last year Futian District was recognized as the “national public cultural service system demonstration area.” This year, in order to create an “upgraded version of the public cultural service system” and build a “sport-strong district,” the cultural and sports venues in Futian District will be upgraded and may be open all year round. According to Li Jie, director of the Culture and Sports Bureau of Futian District, the district will mainly focus on the upgrading of venues and the construction of the national pilot project “digital cultural center.” In the future, the number and the area of available cultural and sports venues in Futian will be greatly increased, so that the public will not have to worry about crowds. Futian District is also planning to break the “closed Monday” practice to become the first in the country to have all of its cultural and sports venues open 365 days a year (except in bad weather or other special conditions). Besides, Futian public cultural and sports development center has qualified as one of the national “10 pilot units of digital cultural center,” and is also the only district-level pilot unit.
