SUPPORTED by Shenzhen Senior High School Group, a student maker team called FRC Team 6706 Golem will embark on a journey to the U.S. to participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), an international high school robotics competition that will be held in Pittsburgh between March 15 and 18 this year. Founded in October 2016, the team is made up of 40 members including students, volunteers and mentors, and it officially started preparations for the upcoming competition only two months after it was founded. According to a team member, the team needs more devices and processing machinery and should design a more functional robot to better prepare for the competition. In order to build a better team image, they also need money for designing and purchasing team uniforms, flags, emblems, posters and slogans to promote themselves. The team members will participate in the competition at their own expense and are raising money to support the school’s scientific and research activities. According to a member who is in charge, anyone who wants to make a donation can do it through WeChat, and the team will pay back their generosity by giving them mementos and team uniforms and offering them a chance to see the robot and communicate with the team members.(Yang Mei) |
