Drunk cabbie
A CABBIE under the influence of alcohol killed an e-bike rider in a crash on Bao’an Boulevard near Fuhua Industrial Road in Shajing, Bao’an District, police said Sunday.
The cabbie of Shenzhen Anheng Taxi Service Co. knocked down the biker, surnamed Yang, who was carrying a passenger named Feng. Feng was injured and Yang died at the scene.
A test showed that the cabbie’s alcohol content in blood was 67 mg per 100 ml.
Paint spill
PAINT spilled from a truck in a collision with six other cars, painting part of Xihuan Road in Buji Subdistrict, Longgang District on Sunday.
According to witnesses, the truck came down Xihuan Road and crashed into several cars waiting for a red light. In the accident, the barrels of paint rolled off the truck and spilled on the street.
Three people were injured, and one of them was in serious condition.
Thunder season
SHENZHEN will have thunder and rain in the coming month and temperatures will drop from today to Thursday, March 29-31 and April 8-9 as three rounds of cold air affect the city.
The minimum temperatures will reach 14 degrees Celsius between March 14 and 16.
Tea consumption
SHENZHEN has a per capita tea consumption of more than 3 kilograms annually, ranking first in China, according to the city’s tea circulation association. Shenzhen is a tea distribution center in China, with more than 30,000 business entities and more than 200,000 people engaged in tea-related sectors such as manufacturing, processing, trading, packaging and logistics.
Worker killed
AN afforestation worker surnamed Wen with Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden was run over by a mixer truck while riding his e-bike out of the park’s northern gate Friday.
The driver of the mixer truck, which was going the same direction as Wen, wasn’t aware of the accident until he was intercepted by a security guard at the gate.
Police are investigating.
