New cultural facilities in Shekou
    2017-March-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

WORK on the Shekou Maritime Museum has been completed, and it will open to the public in the middle of the year, according to a meeting of Shekou Subdistrict Office in Nanshan District yesterday.

The maritime museum is located near Shekou Building on Shiyun Road. The subdistrict office has started collecting specimens of maritime creatures. The museum will be a maritime science education base.

The subdistrict will push forward the relocation of Dong-jiaotou Oil Depot and speed up renovation of the Shekou Theater area to turn it into a new high-level cultural center, according to Zhou Jiangtao, head of the subdistrict office.

Shekou Subdistrict, which administers 12 communities, is one of the two subdistricts with the most expats in Shekou. The subdistrict has established a service center for foreigners and set up a volunteer team comprised of foreign nationals to help newcomers adapt to social life in Shenzhen. (Han Ximin)
