Police officers probed for corruption
    2017-March-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SIX police officers in Guangming New Area, who have been arrested, were suspected of harboring foot massage and bath house clubs that were involved in prostitution.

Guangming New Area Public Security Sub-bureau launched an action in March last year and closed six massage clubs, which were suspected of providing prostitution services.

According to a report by the Southern Metropolis Daily on Thursday, quoting an anonymous source, two clubs in prime locations in Guangming, which offered foot massage, karaoke and lodging services, were operated by a man who was suspected of being involved in operating a prostitution ring, since the man generously offered high salaries of around 12,000 and 20,000 yuan (US$1,742-2,904) to their young female employees at the karaoke and massage parlors.

According to the report, a former deputy chief with the sub-bureau, identified as Leng, was suspected of taking bribes from at least two of the massage clubs. Leng was in charge of order and security in Guangming and part of his job was fighting against porn, gambling and drugs.

Another police official, surnamed Kou who was the head of the social order and security brigade, was responsible for the anti-pornography drive in Guangming, but he and his subordinate, surnamed Dai, were probed for allegedly taking bribes. Three others, Liu, an officer with Yanluo Police Station, Zhang, head of Gongming Police Station, and one of his subordinates, also surnamed Zhang, who worked at a community police office, were also responsible for fighting against pornography and gambling in their jurisdictions.

Shenzhen Municipal People’s Procuratorate said on its official microblog in February that the six suspects had been investigated for taking bribes.
