BRIE LARSON, the star of “Kong: Skull Island,” will play the first female presidential candidate in “Victoria Woodhull.” Amazon has bought the package that sees Ben Kopit writing the script for the story about Woodhull, who was the first woman to be nominated for the U.S. presidency in 1872. She was a women’s rights activist and suffragist who could not even vote for herself on Election Day. Woodhull also was a published author, creating the radical publication “Woodhull and Claflin’s Weekly” in 1870 with her sister. She and her sister also started the first woman-run stock brokerage company.(SD-Agencies) |
