Italian neoclassical band Ashram will perform June 2 at Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center to promote their latest album “Human and Divine.”
From Naples, the band has been playing for nearly 20 years, with several tours in Portugal and concerts in France, Germany, China, Greece and Albania. Their music is totally acoustic with piano (Luigi Rubino), violin (Edo Notarloberti) and vocals (Sergio Panarella). The band’s sound has also been defined as “neo-romantic, rich in melancholia and soul.”
The band started in 1997 with a demo CD called “For My Sun,” soon after they were signed by the French label Prikosnovenie which released their debut album “Ashram” in 2002. An international tour of concerts followed and then in 2006 the Portuguese label Equilibrium released their second album, “Shining Silver Skies.” Both works have been enthusiastically reviewed in international magazines.
In 2010 Dying Art Productions released the DVD “Gathered Under Shining Silver Skies,” a documentary of their live performance in China in 2009. The song “Fairy Wind” was chosen as the soundtrack of the WWF video campaign “Tiger Evolution Ends” and two more videos have been broadcast: “Forever at Your Mercy” and “Maria and the Violin’s Strings.”
