    Good neighbor

A WOMAN in Longhua was praised for helping pay for the medical costs of another woman living in the same building. According to the patient, surnamed Li, she had felt dizzy while taking an elevator and the woman standing beside her, surnamed Zhu, insisted on taking her to the community clinic.

At the clinic, Zhu paid for Li’s treatment. Li was diagnosed with viral encephalitis and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. After Li was discharged from the hospital, Li was able to contact Zhu, with the help of the property management and a public notice she posted to look for the good neighbor.

    Free bike rides

WECHAT users can enjoy free rides on Mobikes for 30 days by using a third party service, which is imbedded in the WeChat Wallet.

WeChat has 899 million active users a month.

    Violent resistance

FIVE people in a used furniture market in Nanlian, Longgang District were detained for 10 days for hindering the duties of law enforcers Wednesday.

The furniture shop owners occupied a public area and firefighting passages with their furniture. They heeded no attention to the warnings from law enforcement units of the subdistrict government office.

Additionally, when law enforcers started to impound the furniture, the shop owners started to insult, push and attack the law enforcers in an attempt to get back their property.

In the scuffle, two law enforcers were injured. Longxin Police Station officers detained five of the market staff members for hindering their duties.

    Ex-officers probed

THREE former Huanggang Customs officers are being probed for suspected duty delinquency, according to a notice of Shenzhen People’s Procuratorate on Tuesday.

The three suspects had been fired before their suspected crimes were exposed.

Earlier in February, Yuan, a section chief of Dapeng Customs, Wen, a section chief with Shekou Customs, and Xie, an employee with Shenzhen Bay Customs, were also probed for allegedly taking bribes.

    Smoking raids

FIFTY-TWO smokers were fined and 25 venues received verbal warnings during a monthlong campaign to crack down on smoking at leisure and entertainment venues across the city in March.

The raids, carried out by the police, were targeting venues like bars, massage parlors and teahouses, which were included in the smoking ban this year.

More irregular checkups on all types of venues are expected in the following months.
