Green funerals held

    A free tree burial service is offered at the Jitian Cemetery in Longgang District on Wednesday morning. Ashes of 55 deceased were buried under a tree, marking the 11th tree burial service offered to local residents at the cemetery. Also on Wednesday, a public memorial ceremony was held for those who chose sea burials for their deceased relatives. Ashes of 91 deceased were scattered in the waters off Yantian District. The Shenzhen Municipal Government paid for the sea and tree burial services Wednesday. So far, Shenzhen has seen ashes of 36,409 deceased people scattered into the sea and ashes of 483 deceased people buried under trees.
