INDIA Bollywood Singing & Dancing Group staged “the Music and Dance of the Ganges River” on Friday night at Shenzhen Grand Theater, as an important part of Shenzhen Belt and Road International Music Festival that is running from March 25 to April 16.

The group presented not only exotic dances and songs but also typical Chinese songs such as the Beijing Olympic song “Welcome to Beijing” and Yunqi’s “See you off outside the little village.”

The Indian-style performance and familiar Chinese melody have won rapturous applauses. Almost all of the performers have made an effort to say “I love Shenzhen” or use the word “Shenzhen” in their performance.

India, an important part of the ancient Silk Road, is a vital element in the music festival. After over one year of preparing, the group has given an exciting song and dance party for the audience.

Their performance includes song and dance episodes from well-known Indian movies such as “Caravan,” “Devdas” and “The Tramp.” They also interpreted the highlights of movies like “Slumdog Millionaire” and “3 idiots,” as well as Indian folk dances such as Kathak, lavishing the Chinese audience with the fashionable charm of modern India.

India Bollywood Singing & Dancing Group was founded in 1995 by Soujit Das, a famous Indian choreographer. It has been active in India’s movie circle. It has participated in the shooting of countless Bollywood movies and TV plays. It has taken part in world-famous film and culture festivals and carnivals in Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia.

Indian movies emerged at the end of the 19th century and the country has become one of the most important movie production areas in the world.
