Temporary delivery room set up on roadside
    2017-April-7  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

EMPLOYEES of an investment company in Longgang District helped an expectant mother give birth to her baby outside the company’s front door before an ambulance arrived March 31, according to a Guangdong TV news program.

The mother, surnamed Tan, didn’t expect her second child to be born as it was a few days before the due date. She went out with her family that day, but her water broke as they passed the investment company on Xinyuan Road. Her husband didn’t know the exact location when he called the ambulance, but Tan was already in labor and her baby’s head had already come out.

A manager from the company, surnamed Chen, saw what was happening as he was coming to the company’s front door to pick up a parcel. He called over a dozen male colleagues who were in a company to help Tan.

They set up a temporary delivery room for her by holding billboards and umbrellas around her. Some of them helped maintain order on the site and some called the hospital. After Tan gave birth to a baby girl, an ambulance arrived and brought her and the newborn to Longgang District No. 3 People’s Hospital.

According to the hospital, the baby weighs 2.9 kilograms and is very healthy. A doctor said that the people who held umbrellas and billboards for Tan had saved her and her baby from possible infections.

Tan said that she planned to name her daughter Yuanyuan in appreciation of the company’s employees who helped her. The company’s head said that he would reward the employees who came to Tan’s aid to honor their goodness, according to the report. (Zhang Yang)
