Metro operator seeks suggestions on signs

SHENZHEN Metro operator is seeking suggestions on how to optimize the signs directing people at Chegongmiao Station, which is one of the busiest interchange stations and the only station where four Metro lines meet.

Residents can check the operator’s microblog 深圳地铁运营 (Shenzhen Metro Operation) for details on the plan and send suggestions to szmcservice@szmcob.com. The new set of signs will be introduced in June this year.

The changes to the signs will mainly include information about exits and entries, train transfers and facility guides.

Chegongmiao Station has 11 exits and entries and so far seven of them have been put into use. The revision plan is to set up an “information island,” which will integrate a neighborhood map, station map and general guidance, in the paying area of each line at the station. The information island will clearly indicate the location of four toilets, one in the paying area and three others on the platforms of Lines 7, 9 and 11.

The operator will add directive signs to the platform of Line 1 to guide passengers on where to transfer for Lines 7 and 9, which is a long distance from Line 1.
