Boy injured after being dragged by taxi
    2017-April-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A SCHOOLBOY in Shenzhen was injured after he was dragged by a taxi for several meters as his arm was caught in the taxi’s window, according to a local TV news report.

The boy, identified as Jun, took the taxi home after school March 24, but he hadn’t brought any money with him. After he borrowed some cash from a security guard outside of the residential estate where he lives, he still needed 8 yuan (US$1.16) to pay the fare.

When Jun asked the taxi driver to call his mother, the driver started his car and drove away, but Jun’s arm was still stuck in the car’s window, so he was dragged down the road by the taxi.

The security guard witnessed the accident and said that the taxi accelerated very quickly and then stopped after a few meters. Jun fell to the ground after he had pulled his arm out of the window, but his schoolbag was left in the taxi.

Jun was diagnosed with a bone fracture after he was taken to a nearby hospital.

The taxi driver said that he didn’t know Jun’s arm had been caught in the window. Jun’s mother, surnamed Yin, said that the taxi’s driving path showed that the driver had stopped on the roadside for over 10 seconds after the accident, probably to check on Jun’s injury.

The traffic police ruled that the driver should be held fully responsible for the accident.
