Fruitful graduation

    A GRADUATING student from Shenzhen Middle School, Chen Xue’er, wowed her peers and the people around her by receiving notices of admission from 12 of the world’s top universities, including University of Cambridge, Columbia University, and Cornell University.

    Chen has been famous among her fellow students for her outstanding academic performance. When asked about her learning methods, Chen said that she has had a habit of reading since childhood, which greatly helps in her studies.

    Imported fruit

    PRICES of imported fruit are expected to remain at a relatively high level for another period due to a number of factors, including rising temperatures and the costs and time required for transportation.

    The average price for a box of imported fruit at the Higreen farm produce wholesale market in Longgang District is around 258 yuan (US$37.35), marking an increase of 6 percent from last month.

    Water heaters

    LONGGANG District announced that it had carried out 1,575 actions by April 7, inspecting the safety of household water heaters in order to prevent accidents caused by carbon monoxide.

    The inspection teams visited around 1 million rental apartments in the district and dismantled 32,231 straight platoon-type gas water heaters.
