4 busted for illegal cashing out with POS
    2017-April-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A GANG of four suspects that illegally used POS machines to withdraw nearly 4 million yuan (US$579,475) in cash from credit cards were recently busted by Longgang police, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.

On the morning of April 5, police officers in Luogang Police Station were tipped off that someone was using POS machines to withdraw money from credit cards in the Buji area of Longgang District. After an investigation, police identified the four suspects.

Police officers with Luogang Police Station carried out an operation and busted the suspects at a residential complex in Buji two days later and seized four POS machines.

The four suspects admitted to the crime of earning money by illegally helping others withdraw cash from their credit cards, the report said.

One of the suspects surnamed Lu was the one who came up with the idea. Since the process of taking out cash via POS machines was handy, Lu and the others planned to earn money by doing the illicit business.

Each member of the gang possessed a POS machine, and they had conducted over 600 operations together since 2016. The amount of money they have helped cash out exceeded 4 million yuan.

The four suspects are currently under criminal detention.
