Wang Hengle, Class 3, Grade 5, Shenzhen Experimental School 深圳实验学校小学部五(3)班 汪恒乐 Annie and Peter are sitting beside the window. It seems that a storm is brewing in the distance. Suddenly, rain starts pouring down the grey and foggy sky. The storm whisks up in front of them. It blows like a monster in front of the window, blowing it up and down with a noisy, screeching sound. In a second, the wind tears off the window, blowing it into the distant sky. Peter shouts, “Keep hold of the desk, before the wind blows us away!” It is no use. The wind gusted again, and off they went, into the rainy and stormy sky… They finally woke up an hour or two later. The place where they woke up is a rainforest. They stand up and brush off the dust and dirt on their clothes. It is Peter that first breaks the ice, “Where are we?” They look around, but there is no one in sight. “Maybe we shall venture into these woods,” says Annie. After they walk a few miles, they start to see a big city at the end of the rainforest. “That’s marvelous!” exclaims Annie. When they finally get to the city, they are surprised that there are small aliens walking up and down the street. They seem to be the only beings there. They walk up the street, going to the Great Palace, which is the name of the castle at the end of the street. “Maybe we can get help there,” says Annie. They walk up the stairs and into the palace. It is quiet and bright inside the building. There is a long archway, with pillars on either side of it. At the end of the hallway is a marvelous marble desk decorated with jewels and diamonds. And sitting in a bright red chair is a big and green alien, looking solemnly at them. He does look friendly, though. “Where do you come from?” asks the alien, who is a king. “Your majesty,” says Peter, “we came from the faraway planet of Earth. We were caught in a storm and it blew us away to this place.” “Hum…” says the king. “Maybe I can help you.” He stands up and walks to a door on the left side of him. “Follow me,” he says. They walk into a gigantic room. There is a big machine in the center of the room. “This is a ‘space travel’ machine. It can take you to a different place within a second,” says the king. “Wow!” whispers Annie. They climb up the ladder and into the machine. It’s almost like a control panel of a plane, but bigger. The king says, “You can type the name of your planet down there and then you press this button. It can create a wormhole between the two worlds.” Finally, they are ready to start. The whole machine screeches and the lights twinkle and twinkle. Suddenly, there is a stupendous streak of light. And after a second, they are back, at their very own home. |
