Educators prosecuted
FORMER headmasters of the Cuibei Experimental Primary School and Liannan Primary School are facing prosecution for allegedly taking and offering bribes, Shenzhen People’s Procuratorate said.
Their corruption may be linked to Wang Qi, a former director with the Luohu District Education Bureau, who was probed in June last year for allegedly taking 49,000 yuan (US$7,107) in bribes and 22,000 yuan in shopping cards from school masters in nine incidents.
Coastal walk
YANTIAN District Public Works Bureau has started renovations of the 10-year-old coastal walkway from Shatoujiao to Yantian Port with an investment of 10 million yuan. The work is expected to be completed in October.
Hiker missing
A 40-YEAR-OLD hiker surnamed Li has been missing for a week after possibly hiking alone along the coast from Xichong to Nan’ao on Dapeng Peninsula on April 4.
Li left home on the morning of April 4, and his wife couldn’t reach him by phone at 8 p.m. An investigation showed that Li had probably gone hiking alone since no one responded to his hiking suggestion online. The Xichong-Nan’ao coastline is regarded as the most dangerous hiking route in Shenzhen.
Substandard phones
NINE out of 50 batches of mobile phones in Shenzhen were determined substandard in the third quarter of last year. Among the problematic phones, Shenzhen companies had produced eight batches of the phones.
The main problems with the phones were their design and the production of their batteries, electrical insulation, heat dissipation and so forth, the market supervision bureau said.
New air route
CHINA Eastern Airlines has opened a route from Shenzhen to Yinchuan via Zhengzhou.
The flight, DZ6243, operates every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. It departs from Shenzhen at 6:50 a.m. and arrives in Zhengzhou at 9:30 a.m. It departs from Zhengzhou at 10:30 a.m. and arrives in Yinchuan at 12:30 p.m. The return flight, DZ6244, leaves from Yinchuan City at 7 p.m. and arrives in Shenzhen at midnight.
