POLICE identified the father of a 3-year-old girl who had lost contact with her parents for three days and was being cared for at Bogang Police Station, Bao’an police said on its official microblog Thursday.

    The girl was taken to Nanshan Public Security Sub-bureau on Thursday morning. Police didn’t give details about the girl and her father in order to protect their privacy. But there are still so many unanswered questions about the reason why the family had abandoned the girl and what had happened to the family.

    According to a report of the Southern Metropolis Daily, which had obtained two video clips, the girl had been shopping with a man in a white shirt, who was later confirmed to be her father, at around 9 p.m. April 9 at a convenience shop in Bogang, Shajing, Bao’an District. The other video clip showed the man paying a bill at the cashier with the girl, who was holding his hand.

    The shop owner confirmed that the girl had once shopped in the convenience store when he learned that she had allegedly been abandoned. “The man looked nice, holding the outfit of the girl and helping her with her water after paying,” the shop owner was quoted as saying.
