Residents line up to read out poems or essays in a reading pavilion just outside the Shenzhen Library in Futian District on Sunday. Their reading will be recorded by a camera in the pavilion for editors of a China Central Television reading program, who will choose some best ones to broadcast. Reading has recently become a popular activity since the reading program aired on CCTV attracted nationwide attention. The TV program invites a well-known person to read some poems or essays each episode.
