VISITORS to Dameisha Beach Park in Yantian District need to make their online reservation a week in advance for free admission during the peak season between May and October.
The newly renovated park will set a daily cap of 50,000 visitors, and the online booking system will advise tourists to choose another day to visit if the reservations have reached the limit.
After booking, visitors can scan their ID card or QR code at the entrances, or print their admission tickets with their ID or QR code at the ticket dispensers.
Those who change their schedule after making a reservation need to cancel the reservation two hours in advance.
The system will ban visitors from entering the park for six months if they fail to honor their reservations on more than three occasions.
Military service persons, elderly people aged above 65, physically challenged persons and children under 1.4 meters don’t need to make reservations.
A reservation is valid for one entry and visitors need to pass through the X-ray machine security check at the entrances.
As the parking lots in the beach area only provide 5,000 parking spaces, the park management advises visitors to take public transportation.
Yantian District invested 130 million yuan (US$19.16 million) on five projects for the park’s renovation, including engineering on electricity and other pipelines, parking spaces, sightseeing facilities, safety facilities and the Wish Tower maintenance.
Renovation of the sightseeing facilities comprises improvements to Solar Square, Lunar Square and Sunshine Corridor. The sightseeing spots will be connected by neatly cut green belts dotted with recreational spaces. The weather-beaten and dusty landmark, Wish Tower, has been renovated with new stainless steel bars and repainted.
Dameisha Beach Park is one of the calling cards of Shenzhen’s tourism. It has received a total of 125 million visitors since opening in May 1999.
In recent years, the park has received more than 10 million visitors a year, which is far beyond its capacity.
